Ghent, capital of the province called East-Flanders

Ghent, also known as "the proud city", has a history filled with rebellion and bloody fights for freedom. Its main hero is called Jacob van Artevelde who was a common citizen wich used his wisdom to do great things for his city. As being the first industrialised town of the mainland it produced huge amounts of textile. Today Ghent is a vibrant city that welcomes everyone on festivities like "De Gentse feesten". While being surrounded by huge flowerfields, Ghent choses to face its future with loyalty and love as it stands written in its coat or arms.
