Table stories scetch

Did you ever felt an awkward atmosphere at family meetings ? Where does it come from anyway ? With this idea in mind I try to capture one of those strange moments and try to explain it. Each person, animal or object has its own past. It's these stories that have a major influence on the present.

For me the real victory in scetching is beating time to get to it. Picking that pencil up and JUST DO IT. It's the attitude I strive for. Having done something just gives a great feeling.

Rabbit monster

A friend of mine captured my true form on camera some years ago. This picture wasn't meant to be published untill 2050. Oh well, this doesn't mean you won't get your easter eggs this year. Gssss, do you sleep with an open window ?

My generation is such a nice world of inspiration. I'm not always seeing things the same way but we get along very well. Drawing ugly makes me alot more spontanious. It sure was fun.

Maths

They are so logical most people don't understand them. Whenever I try to do them I feel like a memoryloss patient trying to reconstruct the day. People who are good in logics are to be admired. They seem to have some inner beauty I'll never be able to experience. ( read as jalousy )

Blue café

Café's carry a certain atmospehere I can't really put in words. What do people seek in their beerglasses ? They chat around about all kinds of things. I think it's a bit like facebook. Nothing's really going on but you're glad you're there and the bartender's wallet agrees.

Scetch of Steven

This is a fast scetch of my good comrade Steven. We've been through 5 years of college war so far. Nomatter what they'd throw at us, we'd just keep on going. Keeping eachother up ;)

Funny nightmare

 

 

When you ask your friends about their nightmares you'll get the weirdest stories. Dreamworld remains a very mysterious place where people go alot to take care of their own businesses. This time the inspiration came from "The sleep of reason produces monsters " from Goya.

Blue experiment

School started and that always has a major impact. Drawing for yourselve is one thing, but getting grades on what you do is very frightning. Your whole personality can get hurt so easely. It's like putting your heart on a plate. You have to do so or else your work will look like a nobody.

More skulls

Practising these is very interesting. While I was drawing it a tooth fell out randomly. Somehow that was creepy and funny. But it's nice to know that the model is amusing itself in a way.

Skull drawing

They always kind of smile at you don't they ? I didn't feel like spending hours on this one. Although there's crazy much detail to be found on a skull. I have one in my room, am I strange now ?

Hand studies

Brrrr ! Hands, they are very hard to get right but it's a necessary evil. I used my own hand as a living model :) Drawing them fast is a great training. A good book about this subject is " Drawing the head & hands" by Andrew Loomis. It gives you insight in how the hand is constructed and how you can draw it.

Artschool heroes

Some artschool teachers are already back out there to embrace all those precious little creative souls. It's a special place with lots of styles, colors and tastes. Abouve all it's a place where you want to shape your dreams and idea's - and have alot of weird adventures inbetween ofcource ;)

Robbedoes

The dog of a friend of mine passed away a few days ago. He was the coolest dog ever because he had a positive and calm personality wich welcomed me everytime I dropped by. Thanks to his good family members he lived a long and happy life.

Scetches of a man

Unhappy with that "monster of the lagoon" figure in the top left corner, I experimented some more using ink and watercolor. It's good to turn away from linearity once in awhile. There's so much to bare in mind while scetching. Yet thinking too much about that doesn't always help.

Sometimes I wonder how other people see my work. You can't really experience what they see after all. Why did humans have to draw in the first place ? Well to hunt - they'll tell you. Then what am I hunting ?

Random comicpage

Don't ask me why, but I randomly felt like trying out a comicpage ! Yippee ! Just like old times where I used to make these kind of things as a kid. The thing is they take alot of time. So don't expect a sequel anytime soon. I've got real life to kill before it kills me ! Yes it's dutch.

Rabbits

Rabbits is an experimental series made by David Lynch. Nobody really knows what it's about, yet there's a pretty strange atmosphere in there. I tried to understand it better by making a scetch about it. The music, the characters, the dialogues, the decoration, the effects, it's all so very fascinating !

A hero's postcard

Some weeks ago I had a wonderfull time visiting my friends in Denmark. As it really meant alot to me I decided to send them a postcard with this drawing on the backside. They're both into videogames so this came out of it. It shows our characters from the game called " Phantasy Star Online 2 ".

Some days ago the cat of my friend died. As his pet meant something very special to him I decided to make a special card. Hopefully it helps a little.

Marker scetches

Drawing faster makes you lose control. Good ! It's exacly the thing I need to work on. The proces of drawing without thinking is amazing. It opens so many doors ! Take them, come back and show the world what you've found.
